What is a lip blush?
Lip Blush is a form of semi-permanent tattooing on the lips. This is a fantastic treatment, that has been around for years, but over the last few years has become one of the most sort after semi-permanent make up treatments. This looks amazing on both natural lips, and lips with filler.
This treatment is great to help enhance the border and definition of your natural lips. We can do various looks with this treatment. With full lip blush it may be that you want a natural colour to help revive the lips and help them look more healthy and defined. It may be that you want a bright full lipstick look. Both can be achieved and look fantastic.

Permanent makeup can also be used on the lips. It is a treatment where pigment is implanted just beneath the dermis to define the lips. The pigment is implanted right on the lip border therefore it will give the illusion of a fuller lip and then blushed into the lip body.
A special tattoo machine is used at a lower speed and frequency than a traditional tattoo machine with ultra-fine needles that deposit the colour through the lip area.
The treatment reinforces the shape and accomplishes a “natural” look to the lip, while avoiding any harsh or obvious lip lines.
On the average, the treatment must be repeated an additional 1-2 times after the initial application, at intervals of 3 weeks.
Since each person has a different chemical and genetic makeup, it is impossible to tell in advance exactly how much pigment retention to expect with each application or how many applications will ultimately be needed. We promise to provide 100% saturation with each application.
We recommend a refill/top up every 1.5 – 3 years, many factors will affect the top up process for example sun exposure & skincare products. But generally, a top up is every 1.5 years.
Numbing creams will minimise any pain felt. It is left on for 15-20mins prior to the procedure plus applied a couple of times during the treatment. Generally, clients say that it is not sore, but use “nippy at times” to describe the feeling.
Yes you can! At the beginning of your appointment, we will spend time mixing colours, and picking out a colour you love. Alot of clients bring their favourite lipstick that they like to wear. This can be a colour very similar to their natural lip colour or a glam vibrant colour.
Pre Procedure
- If you have ever had a coldsore, we advise you take cold sore medication 5 days before treatment and 5 days after.
- Avoid taking any blood thinning medications, substances and vitamins. Such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, alcohol, caffeine, fish oil, niacin and other relevant vitamins,
- Avoid Exfoliating skincare products
- Avoid medications that thin the skin
- Avoid botox or fillers for 6 weeks before & after
Aftercare
- Use Vitamin A & D ointment 2-3 times per day until the area is healed
- Avoid touching lips during healing
- Avoid the gym or sitting in the sun for a week after
- Avoid getting lips wet during healing
- Avoid salty or spicy foods during healing.
- Avoid kissing for up to 7 days.
- Always use a straw when drinking during healing
- Avoid makeup on lip area during healing
- Avoid biting into foods such as sandwiches during healing, instead cut them into little pieces
- Avoid wiping lips, always pat dry
